Bentonite clay together with activated charcoal thoroughly cleanses the skin and goes down deep into the pores. Apple cider vinegar is known for killing bacteria, whereas Tea Tree oil supports acne healing. You can create your own DIY activated charcoal mask using these ingredients in the instructions below:

  • 1 spoon of bentonite clay
  • ¼ spoon or one capsule of activated charcoal
  • 1 spoon of apple cider vinegar
  • 3 drops of tea tree oil

Mix the above ingredients into a smooth paste and apply to your face. Feel free to adjust consistency of the paste with water, especially rose water. It’s best to apply the paste with a brush to avoid charcoal stains on your hands.

Wash the mask off after 5 to 10 minutes, and follow up with a moisturizing cream to leave you with clean and smooth skin.

This DIY face mask is perfect for oily and acne prone skin. I would not recommend it for people with dry and sensitive skin because, the charcoal can be too harsh for them. Those with sensitive skin can protect their skin by mixing natural yogurt and honey with a bit of activated charcoal for a similar effect.
